Dr. Ramirio Toribio

Ramiro E. Toribio, DVM, MS, PhD, DACVIM

Ramiro Toribio es profesor titular y el jefe de la Sección de Medicina Equina/Servicio Ambulatorio Equino de la Facultad de Medicina Veterinary de Ohio State University. Es certificado/diplomado por el Colegio Americano de Medicina Interna Veterinaria (DACVIM). Sus responsabilidades incluyen investigación, docencia, servicio clínico, orientación (profesores, residentes, internos, estudiantes de posgrado), educación continua, y administración. El Dr. Toribio dirige cursos y programas profesionales y de posgrado, así como el programa de residencia/especialidad en equinos. También coordina los programas de investigación en endocrinología equina, neonatología equina, medicina comparativa, y biología molecular. En su trayectoria profesional ha obtenido aproximadamente U$5,000,000 en fondos para investigación; tiene >150 publicaciones en revistas indexadas, es autor de varios libros y numerosos capítulos en libros de varias disciplinas equinas. El Dr. Toribio tiene colaboraciones con instituciones académicas, prácticas privadas, fundaciones, e industria, en los Estados Unidos y otros países. El ha entrenado una gran lista de residentes, internos, estudiantes de posgrado, y postdoctorados. Además, el Dr. Toribio está involucrado en educación continua, diseminación de información, tiene interés en diseños curriculares veterinarios, y en avanzar la profesión.
Dr. Giorgio Ricardi

Giorgio Ricardi – short bio

Giorgio qualified from the University of Turin, Italy, in 1989. After a few externships and serving duty for his National Service, he then did an Internship in Equine Surgery in 1991–1992 at the Animal Health Trust, Newmarket, UK. He then moved back to Italy where he was in private practice from 1993 to 2014, developing his main areas of interest in lameness and surgery. During this time, he was a Contract Professor in Equine Surgery at the University of Pisa and a Visiting Equine Surgeon at the University of Milan. In 2014–2015 he moved to the United Arab Emirates, where he was Senior Clinician at Wrsan Racing Stables, Abu Dhabi, attending flat and endurance racehorses. Since 2016, Giorgio has been a senior lameness clinician and surgeon at Donnington Grove Equine Hospital, Newbury, UK. His main field of interest is orthopaedic disease of racing and sport horses, with special emphasis on scintigraphy and diagnostic ultrasonography. Giorgio is a Past President of SIVE (Italian Association of Equine Practitioners) and FEEVA (Federation of European Equine Veterinary Associations). He is an ISELP certified member since 2018. In 2023, he joined the board of WEVA.
Dr. Siobhan McAuliffe

Siobhan McAuliffe short bio

Siobhan McAuliffe graduated from UCD in 1997. She worked in ambulatory equine practice in Ireland until 2001 when she took up a residency in Equine Internal Medicine at the then Hagyard, Davidson and McGee in Lexington, Ky. Following completion of the residency she took up a role at the Stables of King Abdullah in Saudi Arabia for 5 years. She then returned to Lexington for 2 years where she ran her own practice. In 2010, she took up a medicine position at the newly constructed Kawell Equine Hospital in Buenos Aires where she remained until returning to Ireland in 2017 to take up a medicine position at Fethard Equine hospital. She now works as an internal medicine consultant in addition to offering technical services to a number of pharmaceutical companies. Siobhan is the author/editor of two equine texts and has numerous other publications in both English and Spanish.

Dr. Nicolás Ernst

Dr. Ernst is a Professor of Equine Surgery, Sports Medicine and Lameness at the University of Minnesota Leatherdale Equine Center. He graduated from the Facultad de Ciencias Veterinaria de la Universidad de Chile in 1999. Following graduation, he moved to United States where he completed an internship at Chino Valley Equine Hospital, Chino, CA. After his internship, did Master in Science in Clinical Epidemiology and an Equine Surgery Residency at the University of Florida. In 2007, Dr. Ernst became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS). That year he was a clinical instructor in equine surgery, emergency and critical care at The Ohio State University Equine Hospital. Since 2008, Dr. Ernst is a Professor in Equine Surgery, Sports Medicine and Lameness at the University of Minnesota Leatherdale Equine Center.
Dr. Jenna Young

Dr. Jenna Young, DVM

Dr. Jenna Young is an equine surgeon based in the United States. Originally from Iowa, shevearned both her undergraduate and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from Iowa StatevUniversity. She completed an equine internship and residency in Equine Surgery at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. In 2019, Dr. Young joined the faculty at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, where she is a member of the Large Animal Surgery service and an Assistant Professor. She became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (Large Animal) in 2021.
